Summary
My fiancé and my best friend were million-dollar, top-tier attorneys at a prestigious law firm.
I was the receptionist.
In the courtroom, they were of one mind. They traded sharp, witty banter, perfectly in sync, dominating every trial.
In their personal lives, their synchronicity was just as flawless. They flirted using obscure legal statutes and shared inside jokes only the two of them understood.
I could never get a word in edgewise. My only option was to awkwardly chuckle along whenever they laughed.
It was like this even at my own father's funeral.
