Summary

At our engagement dinner, Frank suggested a round of Truth or Dare.

When the wine bottle spun and pointed at him for the third time, he leaned back, his eyes drifting lazily toward my fiancée, Sandra.

"Truth," he said with an easy smile. "Jonah and Sandra's marriage license is a fake."

The entire banquet table went dead silent.

Swirling the cabernet in his glass, Frank added casually, "The real one has my name on it next to Sandra's. And my son? Sandra’s his mother."

A room full of family and friends exchanged furtive, uncomfortable glances, subtly turning their eyes to gauge my reaction.
