Summary
I earned fifteen thousand dollars a month. For eight years, like clockwork, I wired ten thousand of it to my parents on the first of every month. They always told me they were tucking it away, a safety net for my future, a "wedding fund" so I’d never have to rely on a man. I believed them.
I believed them until the headlights blinded me, until the sound of crunching metal became the last thing I heard before the world went black.
Now, I was lying in the trauma bay, drifting in and out of a haze of pain, waiting for the surgery that would save my life.
