The company's top salesman came to me for his team-building expense reimbursement.

I didn't even look up as I flatly rejected his request.

"I can't approve this. The budget is gone."

He stared at me in absolute disbelief.

"It's only the 1st of the month. How can we be out of money? Every person gets a $100 allowance!"

But I held my ground and absolutely refused to process his claim.
