Summary
After my hearing loss, my husband only bothered to learn three signs in ASL.Eat. Sleep. Stop it.
Whenever I begged him to learn a little more, he’d complain it was too much of a hassle.
"I’m already exhausted from back-to-back meetings all day. Do I really have to come home and play charades with you?"
"You're not completely deaf. Can't you just read my lips?"
So, for the three years of our marriage, I exhausted myself trying to read his lips.
If I missed something, he accused me of intentionally ignoring him.
If I read them wrong, he’d roll his eyes in annoyance.
