Summary
My friends stopped coming over to our place because of a single house rule my husband refused to break.
Nothing in the apartment was allowed to move.
The porcelain tea cups had to sit dead center on the coffee table. The throw pillows had to be wedged tightly against the outer edges of the sofa arms. Even the sectional itself had to be angled at an exact, rigid slant—just so that anyone sitting there had an unobstructed view through the bay window of the Persian silk tree out in the street.
Every single one of these details had been the habit of his late wife.
