The move into the luxury high-rise in the West Loop took three months of planning, but we packed it all in a weekend. I took a week off work to help my parents navigate the chaos of bubble wrap and moving trucks.
“Be careful with Lucas’s room,” my mother, Eleanor, reminded me for the tenth time. “He’s starting his senior year. He needs a sanctuary for his SAT prep. And Sophie needs the extra floor space in the den for her ballet rehearsals.”
I nodded, taping another box shut. I didn’t need to be told.
