Between the Waves and the Light

Chapter 1

For ten years, I pursued Daniel. In that time, I cured his disability and helped build his billion-dollar empire.

On our wedding anniversary, his obsessive lover stood on the company rooftop for the ninety-ninth time.

He said, "I'll go check on her," and later that night, he let her straddle his lap in a hotel room.

"Willow's aloofness.... it's boring."

His contemptuous laughter pierced through me.

He no longer loved me.

I turned to leave and was hit by a car, losing our unborn child.

The system asked if I wanted to go home. I said yes. The price was that he had to end my life with his own hands.

At his yacht birthday party, he whipped me until I was half dead. My face was disfigured, my hair cut short, and I was framed as a murderer. Then he threw me into the deep sea.

As seawater flooded my nose and mouth, I heard the system notification: "Target has personally terminated. Command fulfilled."

Later, he knelt in the ruins, searching for my belongings. Meanwhile, I stood arm in arm with my new husband at a seaside chapel, exchanging rings.

Sunlight fell on the diamond ring on my finger, illuminating the ten days he had once spent waiting outside my coffee shop. Those ten days were bought with ten lifetimes of reincarnation.

"I am sorry. And I wish you happiness."
