His First Love Was My Long-Lost Sister
Chapter 4
Mr.Bob slammed his hand on the table so hard the teacups rattled:
"Scarlett! The Morrison family doesn't deprive you of food or clothing, yet you do something this disgraceful!"
I laughed coldly:
"Dad, mom, didn't you install recording devices throughout the estate? Just check the surveillance and you'll know."
I stared intently at Celeste, expecting to see a flicker of panic. Instead, her face remained completely calm.
"What's there to check? The only person in this house with dirty intentions is you, muttering to yourself all day, thinking the whole world is out to frame you."
"You stole mom's jade because mom praised Celeste. Scarlett, you've really disappointed me." Landon said furiously.
Groundless accusations need no evidence.
No amount of explaining would help, so I simply gave up:
"Fine. I took it."
I returned to my room and grabbed my luggage.
I couldn't stay in this house one more moment.
I'd just pulled my suitcase to the door when Landon and Celeste chased after me.
"This act again?"
Landon grabbed my suitcase, his tone commanding. "Explain things clearly before you leave!"
I struggled to break free. Just as I was about to speak, an out-of-control car suddenly came barreling from the intersection, its piercing brake screech cutting through the air.
In the chaos, Celeste suddenly threw herself at Landon. They both rolled to the roadside, while I was knocked down by the momentum, my knees scraping against the ground until they bled.
Landon scrambled up and immediately rushed to Celeste's side. Seeing blood seeping from her chest, his eyes turned red.
When he turned to look at me, his gaze was full of hatred:
"This is all your fault! If you hadn't insisted on leaving, how would this have happened? If anything happens to Celeste, I won't forgive you!"
The ambulance wailed as it arrived. As Celeste was lifted onto the stretcher, she said weakly:
"My blood type is rare... I don't know if there's a match..."
Landon immediately grabbed my wrist:
"Go to the hospital and donate blood for Celeste!"
"I won't go!"
I struggled desperately. "Her situation has nothing to do with me!"
Landon simply clamped down on my shoulder and dragged me toward the ambulance. The rough ground tore through my pants, pulling painfully at my knee wounds.
Ms.Bella ran over, grabbing my arm, her tone icy:
"The Morrison family has treated you well. Just donate blood for Celeste, and I'll give you that jade ring. We'll let bygones be bygones."
To kill without mercy—nothing could be crueler.
Watching them willing to buy me off with what I despised most, all for Celeste's sake, I found it both laughable and devastating.
Mr.Bob had somehow also arrived. He stood before me with his cane, his usual refinement completely gone, slamming the cane hard on the ground:
"Outrageous! Still being willful at a time like this! Celeste saved Landon's life. What's wrong with you donating some blood? If you dare disobey, I'll publish an announcement right now, sever your relationship with Landon, and throw you out with nothing!"
Seeing I wouldn't budge, Landon called over two bodyguards.
"Let go of me! Landon, let me go!" I screamed hoarsely, tears mixing with the dirt on my face. "Have you forgotten the last item on my list?! The more innocent someone seems, the more vicious their heart!"
Landon froze for a second, reluctantly lowering his head.
He waved his hand, and they forcibly stuffed me into the car.
At the hospital, as the nurse approached with a needle, I looked at the cold point and felt chilled to the bone.
Through my fading consciousness, Celeste was wheeled to the bed next to mine. I heard her say softly:
"Do you know why I went abroad?"
"To find someone."
She paused, a strange smile playing at her lips:
"Remember when we first met, I said we looked alike?"
My heart lurched violently.
Just then, Landon's secretary suddenly shouted:
"This is bad, Mr. Morrison! The overseas project..."
