My Girlfriend Gave All My Glory to Her First Love, So I Walked Away—Now She’s Begging Me to Stay
Chapter 3
I followed Claire and the others to the restaurant.
When I pushed open the door, I saw the friends around them egging the two of them on to kiss.
Adrian did not refuse, and he wrapped one arm around Claire’s waist while looking at her with meaningful eyes.
Claire pressed both hands against his chest, pretending to resist while clearly welcoming it.
The originally lively and flirtatious atmosphere was interrupted by the sudden sound of the door opening, and everyone turned to look at me.
The expression on Claire’s face froze, and she immediately pushed herself out of Adrian’s arms.
“Ethan, why are you here?”
I did not speak and only stared hard at Claire’s face.
The ridiculous thing was that there was not the slightest guilt or shame on her face, and she even walked over calmly and hugged my arm.
“Since you’re here, why don’t you eat with us? We were just celebrating Adrian’s championship.”
She clearly knew the truth.
She clearly knew that was the medal I had risked my life to win!
Right, how could I have forgotten that Adrian was the one she had carried in her heart for years?
Even on the day of my finals, because of one phone call from Adrian, she completely ignored my feelings, dumped me by the roadside, and drove off to find him.
I nearly arrived late because of her.
In the end, she did not even say sorry.
All along, Adrian had always been her exception.
I pulled the corners of my mouth into a cold smile.
The bitterness rising in my heart was nothing compared with the pain of seeing this with my own eyes.
Adrian walked up to me, lowered his eyes, and apologized.
“Ethan, I’m sorry, I know Claire is your girlfriend, but we were only playing a game just now, so please don’t be angry, okay?”
He dodged the important issue, but was that what I cared about right now?
The championship medal was still hanging on his chest, and though he seemed to be apologizing on the surface, his eyes were full of provocation and showing off.
There were still many friends in the private room, and seeing the atmosphere turn awkward, Claire pushed me hard.
She frowned and said in a low voice, “Adrian already has a silver medal and a bronze medal, and if he hadn’t had something come up at the last minute this time, how could the championship possibly have fallen to you?”
“It’s not like your family doesn’t have gold medals, and missing one won’t hurt you, so if it really bothers you, you can just win another gold medal next year.”
Seeing the two of them echo each other, I let out a contemptuous cold laugh.
I even began to wonder whether Claire had really liked me as a person when she got together with me.
Or whether it had been for the halo and glory surrounding me.
I nodded and said, “Then let’s break up.”
After saying that, I turned and left.
Claire seemed not to have expected that I, who had always obeyed her in everything, would actually take the initiative to break up with her now.
She chased me out of the private room and shouted behind me with some dissatisfaction.
“Ethan, what exactly are you making a scene about?”
“For you, winning a gold medal couldn’t be easier, but Adrian couldn’t take part in the finals because of an old injury, and this medal is his regret, so can’t you show a little compassion?”
“I’m really sick of you threatening me with a breakup every time something happens!”
An old injury?
Before the match, Adrian had been riding a motorcycle with a girl for fun, and if he had not been showing off his tricks and flipped himself and the bike off the road, how would he have gotten hurt?
Besides, even if he had stood on the finals stage, he still might not have beaten me!
I was too lazy to listen to her anymore and simply quickened my pace.
Claire still wanted to catch up, but Adrian’s cry of surprise came from behind her.
“Claire, I think the old injury in my leg is acting up, and my leg hurts so much right now, can you take me to the hospital?”
Claire turned back almost without hesitation to support Adrian, her voice full of concern.
“Are you okay? I’ll take you to the hospital right now!”
