My Wife Killed Me Because She Thought I Was Immortal
Chapter 5
My body had been burned beyond recognition by the fire from the explosion, almost turned into a piece of charcoal.
I turned my head away, unable to bear seeing my own tragic state after death.
I still clearly remembered the scene during the explosion.
My internal organs were shattered by the shock wave from the explosion, blood constantly flowing from the corner of my mouth.
The raging fire had wrapped me into a fireball, my body had long since gone numb, unable to feel pain.
At that moment, Leah was firmly shielding Justin with the blast shield that belonged to me.
And I, her husband, didn't even get a glance from her until my death.
Leah's pupils contracted, and she involuntarily took a few steps back.
"This... this can't be possible. You must have made a mistake."
"Lucas won't die. I'm going to call him right now and make him come back immediately."
Leah took out her phone with trembling hands to call me, misdialing several times.
As expected, it was still unreachable.
Her lips trembled slightly, forcing out a stiff smile.
"Maybe his phone was burned. Perhaps if we wait a bit longer, he'll come back to the police station on his own."
The chief shook his head and handed her a document, his expression grave.
"Leah, this is the DNA report we rushed out last night. Take a look."
Leah took the report with trembling hands. When she saw the words on it, all color drained from her face.
The DNA of the deceased matched 99.9999% with Lucas's.
Leah stared at the report, murmuring, "How can this be? Lucas said he wouldn't die. How can it be him?"
Leah suddenly pounced on my remains, looking them up and down, as if searching for something.
I was a bit confused. My body had been burned to this state, was there still anything recognizable?
Leah seemed to discover something in my hand. She slowly pulled it out.
It turned out to be our wedding ring.
I remembered that at the moment the fire started, I had taken it off and clutched it tightly in my hand, afraid it would be burned.
Leah collapsed to the ground, her face devoid of any color.
"Didn't you say you wouldn't die? How could you break your promise?"
"I thought you would be fine. I didn't mean to get you killed."
If Leah had just looked up at me for a moment during the explosion, she would have seen that I had already become a fireball.
How could it be as she thought, that I was protected by the Curse?
Moreover, I had told her that I only had two cursed lives left. It was she who didn't believe what I said.
