When My Wife and Daughter Finally Remembered Me, I Was Gone for Good
Chapter 4
I answered with a quiet mm.
On the day of the wedding, I wore a neat suit and went to attend Claire’s wedding.
The wedding was held in a grand cathedral. It looked solemn and imposing, as if it represented the holiness of their relationship, untouchable by any stain.
On the way there, the system specifically told me to put on my mask, worried that I might be targeted and embarrassed in a place like this.

I smiled. “It’s fine, really. I know you’re worried about me, but you know I’ll be going back eventually. If they do this, it’ll actually make it easier for me when I return. I won’t have so much baggage.”
Thinking of that, I picked up a napkin from the table and folded it into a little bunny.
“Back when I was home, I used to fold little bunnies all the time to make my daughter happy, and then I’d put a little candy inside to cheer her up.”
I picked up the little bunny.
But this time, there was no candy inside anymore.
Then a soft voice suddenly sounded from behind me. “Dad, why are you here?”
I turned around.
Sophie was wearing a fluffy dress studded with flowers. She looked like a flower fairy.
She was also carrying a flower basket. Inside it was a pair of rings.
I reached out to hug her.
But she dodged me.
My hand, still hanging in the air, felt a little awkward. After a few seconds, I pulled it back.
“Don’t tell me you’re here to ruin the wedding!” Her eyes were full of caution.
With that one sentence, everyone around us turned to look at me.
A sharp pain shot through my heart, but I still smiled and said, “How could that be? Uncle Blake specially invited me to his wedding.”
She stared at me with her big round eyes, as if trying to judge whether I was telling the truth.
Suddenly, her gaze fell on the little bunny in my hand.
“Dad, what’s that in your hand?”
She looked curious and reached out to take it.
I moved it farther into the table. “Just something I folded on a whim.”
“Can you give it to me, Dad? I want to play with it.”
“No, this isn’t Sophie’s toy.”
At that moment, the little bunny on the table was suddenly picked up by someone.
I followed the line of sight and found Claire had somehow walked over.
Her face was full of contempt. “Ryan, using that kind of trick to win over my daughter’s favor isn’t going to make her go with you.”
I frowned and stood up, taking the little bunny from Claire’s hand. “No, this was folded for my daughter.”
At that, Claire’s expression turned even uglier. “Ryan, I think your brain’s gone bad. Other than Sophie, where do you have a daughter?”
“The last time, you used disappearing to scare Sophie. What story are you making up this time?”
“Are you going to say that once you disappear, you’ll leave us and go live with someone else?”
The mockery in Claire’s eyes only grew stronger as she spoke.
“Let me tell you, Ryan, since you chose to leave, even if you die it won’t affect the lives of our family of three!”
I stayed silent for a long time before sitting back down.
She took Blake’s hand and left without looking back.
People around us started pointing at me and whispering.
I ignored them and seriously watched the grand wedding ceremony that belonged to them.
Blake led Claire, who was wearing a wedding dress, into the venue. Under everyone’s watchful eyes, they hugged and kissed.
Suddenly, I felt a pounding pain in my head, a bit like a migraine, and then my limbs started to go weak.
I forced myself to stay calm and watched the scene of them in love.
Near the end, Sophie skipped over and delivered the flower basket to the two of them.
