Chapter 4
This airport was actually my newly acquired property.
I wanted to start from the ground level to understand employees' concerns, so I concealed my identity publicly.
Mira's family was also in business, but nowhere near my family's level. Her company only developed to its current state because of investment from the Carter family.
Usually she was considerate and attentive toward me, fooling my entire family.
Not far away, Mira approached with five bodyguards in black, staring hard at me, coming on strong.
The five bodyguards instantly pulled the doctor away and surrounded me.
Before I could react, their fists and feet all came at me.
Mira's eyes were vicious, her teeth clenched:
"Beat him hard! It's all his fault that Tom became like this!"
"He even dared talk back to me earlier. Does he really think I can't deal with him?"
Such a big commotion attracted the attention of many passersby.
The sight of me bloody and battered was too shocking. For a moment, no one dared step forward to stop it.
Mira pointed at me and continued cursing.
"Because they delayed treatment, my husband lost his reproductive ability."
"This person even refused to keep our secret. I discovered he took private photos of us to make money. I offered him money and he wouldn't sell them to me!"
"How can this kind of scum still work here? Can passengers feel safe?"
Hearing her twist the truth, I wanted to refute her, but was kicked in the ribs, which broke.
I clutched my abdomen and coughed up blood.
The doctor snapped out of it and desperately tried to push through, but was blocked by the bodyguards.
Mira had the bodyguards stop, approached from above, and her high heel viciously kicked my chin.
I was kicked down flat on the ground, my jaw unable to close—it must have been dislocated.
Not satisfied, she used the sharp tip of her shoe to step on my face, grinding continuously.
"Tom was fine just now. Did you hold a grudge and deliberately sabotage things to harm my husband? You've ruined my happiness for the rest of my life!"
"If he doesn't get better, don't think you can escape either. I'll make you suffer the same pain!"
She vented almost maniacally.
I was submerged in blood all over my face. I felt my eyelids getting heavier and heavier.
Yet she still hadn't stopped this brutality.
She took out her phone, bent down, and prepared to pull off the mask on my face.
"You wanted to sell my photos, didn't you? I'll expose you first!"
The mask slipped from my face.
Looking at my blood-covered face, Mira disgustedly wiped it.
"I want to see what you look like!"
She grabbed my hair, the phone camera right up close.
However, when she got a clear look at my face, she froze completely.
She let go as if electrocuted, asking in disbelief:
"Carter, how... how could it be you?"
